Slacker Powers New Hip Hop Station By The Source

March 04, 2010

By By Glenn Peoples, N.Y.C.

The Source Magazine has teamed up with online radio service Slacker to create a hip hop station. The free Source Magazine station, programmed by The Source staff, will be available on Thursday (March 4) at three places: The Source's Web site, Slacker's online site and Slacker's mobile app.

At The Source's Web site, the Slacker-powered station resides in a pop-up window and is will be familiar to Slacker users. The layout is simple: a play/pause button, a forward button, volume control and the artist name and title of the current and upcoming songs.

Slacker has had themed or branded stations in the past. On Wednesday it announced a station programmed by the members of the rock band AFI. For the 2009 SXSW, Slacker created a Blackberry-branded station that featured up-and-coming artists playing at the festival.
