Digital Briefs: AOL, Clear Channel, Sony
May 20, 2008 - Digital and Mobile

By Antony Bruno, Denver

- AOL Music debuted a pair of new niche music sites: The Boom Box, dedicated to hip hop; and The Boot, dedicated to country. They compliment existing genre -specific sites like PopEater and Spinner.

- Clear Channel agreed to provide its online programming to the Reciva line of Internet-connected radios. The deal includes content from more than 800 Clear Channel stations.

- Add another videogame to the mix that allows users to download new music. Sony Computer Entertainment America released the latest in the SingStar karaoke franchise in the U.S. on the PlayStation3 console, which for the first time lets gamers buy new songs via the online SingStore. The game includes 30 singles, with access to "hundreds" of additional songs for $1.50 each.
