Digital Radio U.K. has appointed Adam Singer as its chairman.

The radio industry body tasked with preparing the U.K. for digital switchover said Singer will take up the role with immediate effect. He will work alongside chief executive Ford Ennals.

Singer is former CEO of TV company Flextech, which has since become part of Virgin Media. He is also a former group CEO of the MCPS-PRS Alliance and has worked at senior levels in broadcasting and telecoms in the U.K., U.S. and Japan.

"Adam has a vast breadth of experience in the broadcasting world and his valuable knowledge will be of huge benefit to the radio sector as we move towards digital switchover," said Andrew Harrison, CEO of RadioCentre, the industry body for commercial radio, in a statement.
