Christophe Lameignère has stepped down from his role of president of Sony Music France, a statement sent by the company confirmed.
He has been replaced by Stéphane Le Tavernier, until now managing director/EVP music and sales of the Sony Music France. Le Tavernier joined BMG in 1995 and remained in the group, notably heading Zomba Records France and overseeing the merger of Jive and Epic in France in 2005.
No official reason was given for the departure of Lameignère, who remains in Sony Music Entertainment Group with an "institutional representation" role, in recognition of his important contribution to domestic music production, says the statement without giving further details.
Lameignère has been with BMG and Sony for the past 20 year, having contributed to the development of French acts such as Pascal Obispo, NTM and Benabar.
Lameignère is also the president of French labels body Snep, where he should remain until the end of his mandate in June 2010, Billboard.biz understands.
