NPR Music Launches New iPad App, Exclusive Concert By The Shins

NPR Music is launching a new iPad app that promises an "immersive audio and visual experience." The free app, available today, will feature live performances, interviews, signature programs, original reporting and commentary, advance album listens, and live station streams along with a visual playlist that can be saved for offline listening.

As part of the rollout, The Shins will perform an exclusive in-app concert on March 7 streamed live from (Le) Poisson Rouge in New York City. The band is expected to perform songs from their highly anticipated new album, Port of Morrow.

Apple to Unveil New iPad in March (Report)

Built by NPR's digital media team, the app also gives instant access to NPR Music radio and live streams from more than 100 public radio stations along with popular music programs such as All Songs Considered and World Café. Live streams from South by Southwest and the Newport Folk and Jazz festivals will also be available through the app.
