Gabrielle Peluso Promoted to General Manager @ Def Jam Recordings
Island Def Jam today announced that Gabrielle Peluso would be taking over as General Manager, Def Jam Recordings, a promotion from her prior position as Senior Vice President, Video Promotions at Island Def Jam Music Group. Her previous responsibilities included securing video airplay across all music video channels, including MTV, BET, VH1, The Fuse and others.
Peluso has spent her entire career at Island Def Jam, beginning in 1996 as assistant to the former president of Def Jam Recordings after receiving her BA in Communications from Syracuse University.
"Gabby is a seasoned veteran at IDJ whose experience in Video Promotion put her in daily contact with the entire artist roster, as well as the key media who play such important roles in exposing our music to the public," said Steve Bartels, President/COO of Island Def Jam Music Group, in a statement. "For more than a decade, Gabby's energy and creativity have helped keep Island Def Jam in the forefront of the industry, and we know that she will bring all her talent to bear in her new role as GM."
In the new position, Peluso will be responsible for the day to day operations of the label, including scheduling and organization on behalf of its artists, and will be reporting directly to Bartels.
"[Def Jam] is undeniably the most important brand in urban music," Peluso said in a statement. "The goal for this label is, and always has been, to uphold the culture of hip-hop music by breaking new artists and supporting the vision of our superstars."
